About Me
My name is Kimberly Villegas, the founder of The Modern Geisha.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Health Fitness. With a deep passion for the art of tarot, I specialize in guiding others through insightful conversations and personalized guidance. My goal is to provide tailored solutions that address the unique needs of each individual, fostering growth and well-being in all aspects of life.
Please note that I am not a licensed doctor or medical professional. My services are intended to support and enhance your overall wellness, complementing traditional medical treatments and therapies.
Born in Santa Clara, California, and raised in Houston, I grew up in a First Generation Asian American household. My parents sought a better life for me and my severely autistic younger sister. I learned holistic healing from my grandmother, who served as a midwife during the Philippine War and later opened a midwifery clinic where I gained hands-on experience supporting midwives during childbirth.
Although I initially planned to pursue a career in Physical Therapy, my journey led me down various paths, including working as a chiropractic assistant, personal trainer, aspiring nurse, and even a drafter in engineering. Through these experiences, I realized my true calling: helping people.
My life's challenges and my unwavering faith have fueled my passion to assist those who feel lost. At The Modern Geisha, I strive to help others find their path and achieve a sense of peace and well-being.
As The Modern Geisha, I pay homage to my Asian heritage by blending the traditional wisdom I’ve grown up with and the modern wellness practices I’ve embraced. Although geishas are originally from Japan, I chose the name "The Modern Geisha" as a way to honor the core values they represent—grace, discipline, and dedication to an art form—while reinterpreting those concepts through my own cultural lens.
As a Multi-Ethnic Asian American, I embrace these qualities and merge them with my own traditions and modern wellness practices. It’s not about replicating the role of a traditional geisha, but rather about embodying the spirit of mastery and balance in a way that resonates with my identity and the work I do through sound healing and tarot.
My Approach
My approach to tarot therapy is conversational and intuitive. When I sit down with a client, I aim to create a safe and open space where we can talk about what’s going on in their life. I believe that tarot isn't just about predicting the future—it's a tool for self-reflection and guidance. So, I start by having a conversation to see where the person feels stuck or needs clarity. It’s less about me telling them what’s going to happen and more about helping them understand their own inner voice.
Through our conversation, I ask questions and listen closely to uncover the deeper issues they may not have even realized were there. From there, I pull cards to reflect the energy around those topics, and together we explore what the messages mean for them. It’s a very collaborative process, where the client is empowered to draw their own insights and gain a better understanding of the situation. My goal is to guide them toward clarity and healing, using tarot as a mirror for their own intuition and wisdom.
What is Tarot?
Tarot (/ˈtæroʊ/), initially known as trionfi and later as tarocchi or tarocks, is a set of playing cards that has been used since at least the mid-15th century in various parts of Europe for games like Tarocchini.
Tarot is a versatile tool that can be used for various purposes, from self-reflection to creative inspiration. Whether you're seeking guidance, exploring your inner self, or simply curious, tarot offers a unique way to connect with your intuition and gain new perspectives.
Intuition and Interpretation: A tarot reader (or the person using the cards) draws a certain number of cards and interprets their meanings. This interpretation is often guided by the reader’s intuition and understanding of the card’s symbolism.
Tarot spreads help organize and interpret the information, making it easier to receive meaningful insights and guidance in a structured way. Each spread is unique, and the layout can be customized to suit the reader's or querent's needs, helping to reveal deeper layers of understanding.
Sound bowls offer a rang of clinically and scientifically supported benefits, from stress reduction and pain relief to improved sleep quality and emotional well-being. The therapeutic effects of sound bowl therapy are largely attributed to the ability of sound vibrations to influence brainwave activity, stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, and promote overall relaxation and healing. Incorporating sound bowl therapy into holistic health practices can be a valuable tool for enhancing both physical and mental well-being.

What are smudge kits?
The purpose of smudge kits is to cleanse and purify spaces, objects, or individuals of negative energy while inviting positive vibrations and clarity. Each element of the kit plays a role in spiritual and energy cleansing, helping to create a balanced and harmonious environment.
Overall, smudge kits are a holistic way to cleanse, protect, and realign yourself with positive intentions.
In each smudge kit:
Sage (White or Blue Sage): For cleansing negative energy and purifying your space.
Palo Santo: A sweet-smelling wood used to invite positive energy and promote healing.
Abalone Shell: Used to hold the smudging items and catch ash during the ritual.
